FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES (F.O.E.)
Aerie #3475 club was chartered in 1973
The Eagles were founded on February 6th, 1898 by 6 theater owners in a waterfront shipyard in Seattle. The theater owners were competitors who had come together to discuss a musicians’ strike. After deciding how to handle the strike, they agreed to "bury the hatchet" and form an organization dubbed "The Order of Good Things." At a later date, they became known as The Fraternal Order of Eagles. The Ladies Auxiliary was formed in 1927. The meeting place or building where Eagles have their meetings and social events is called an Aerie. In nature, an aerie is the lofty nest of any bird of prey, including eagles and hawks.
Aerie #3475
Apart from the dues that we submit to the Grand Aerie on a yearly basis, all money raised above our operating expenses are donated to charitable groups within Calgary. We have donated to the Air Cadets, Girl Guides, Streetlight Bus, Mustard Seed, Rehabilitation Society of Calgary to name but a few.
